Adult Content FAQ

What kind of content is categorized as adult in the F1as.com video search index?
In general, we consider content to be adult if it contains material of a sexual or violent nature. This includes the following:
  • Soft-core and hard-core pornography and erotica
  • Sex-education materials
  • Personal ads and Web cams identified as adult
  • Sites that require consent to enter
  • Explicit sexual references and innuendo
  • Mild nudity, including that contained within performance art or other artistic material
  • Violence and hate materials
  • Music and music videos with sexually oriented or violent content
  • Music rated with a "parental advisory"
  • TV shows advised for mature audiences or rated MA or TV-M
  • Movies and trailers rated PG-13, R, NC-17, or X
  • Humor with adult themes, including sexual or scatological themes
  • Any other content inappropriate for minors (18 years old or younger) without parental consent
Note that obscene language is not included in this list. So streams containing profanity, such as rap music, are not categorized as adult, unless they meet any of the criteria above. F1as.com does not permit illegal content of any kind, such as child pornography, to be included in the F1as.com video search index. However, because most streams are added through automatic spidering, it could be possible for illegal content to slip by. If you should find any illegal content in our database, please notify us immediately by e-mailing with the word 'removal' in the subject line. We will remove the stream from the database and notify the proper authorities of its existence.
How are streams categorized as adult?
Streams are categorized as adult if they come from a site containing any adult content. This occurs through a semi-automated, rules-based system managed by F1as.com personnel. F1as.com adds streams to its index through the process of spidering (or Web crawling), which continuously scans the Internet for streaming media files. Because the process is automated, we cannot guarantee the content of each and every stream in the index. As a result, we assume that all content we find is potentially adult until categorized and restrict its access in the index. Even so, no solution is foolproof. In spite of our best efforts, F1as.com may not be able to exclude all adult content and disclaims all liability.
Do end users have any control over whether adult content is included in their search results?
F1as.com uses a feature called a safe search filter, which destination sites may also choose to include on their sites, to exclude adult content from the search results. Depending on how the site implements this feature, adult content may be filtered out automatically, or end users may choose to turn on the family filter. On F1as.com websites that feature video search, and in the F1as.com Video Search APIs, end users are given the choice of whether or not to turn on the safe search filter.
How reliable is the F1as.com safe search filter?
Our categorization of adult content is as good as or better than that of other Web filtering software. This is based on benchmarks comparing our results directly to results from well-known filtering firms. We consistently achieved better results, both in identifying adult content (false negatives) and in misidentifying non-adult content (false positives). However, no filtering system is perfect, and F1as.com makes no guarantee about the accuracy of its filter.
What if adult content shows up in my search results?
If you have the family filter turned on, please e-mail with the word 'removal' in the subject line if any adult content shows up in your search results. We will re-categorize those streams as soon as possible, typically within 48 business hours.

I've noticed that you have videos in F1as.com that I believe are infringing on my copyright. How do I get them removed?
F1as.com is a video search engine, and it does not host any video. We simply link to the video that is already hosted on other web sites. You said that you do not host video but when I play my video it looks like it is coming from F1as.com. Why?
Many sites allow us to play the video in our own player or frame. We take advantage of this feature to give viewers a better experience. But in all cases the video is coming from site where it is hosted.
I've removed my video from the site that was hosting it, why does it still appear in F1as.com's search results?
